I lost my mantle to the television. We wall mounted it a few years ago and it was the best decision we could have made for the living room ... it opened up so much more floor space because we were able to get rid of the tv console. But I do miss decorating my mantle so much.
Yes, you see some wires ... that's what happens when you downgrade your cable service and then a cord comes loose in the wall. We haven't been able to fish it back through and we are not wanting to cut open the walls again. It really irritates me to see them all. I'll probably be purchasing those plastic wire covers for the meantime.
I wouldn't mind dressing up the fireplace a bit. I'm thinking a fireplace screen and maybe some large candle sconces or something.
We purchased the two entertainment cabinets on either side of the mantle to house some pictures, books, baskets and a few entertainment boxes. I love them. Crate and Barrel rocks my world.
I also love the sweet little pictures of my son hanging above the cabinets. My Mom got the frames for a steal from Pottery Barn a few years ago.
The tops of the cabinets and mantle usually turn into a catch-all during the week but I cleaned them up just for you guys. I'm sure some bills or magazines will find their way back over there today.
Hope you enjoyed! Have a great weekend!
I think.
I so want to blog.
But what do I write about besides daily family life? I guess that's what it's supposed to be about though. I just get discouraged sometimes because there are so many witty bloggers out there and I want to be just like them. I know that sounds ridiculous.
I'm willing to give this another shot though.
Let's start with a picture, shall we?
That is my almost TWO year old enjoying a 4th of July popcicle.
Walker is having his first weekend away with his Papa and Gigi this weekend. Let's be honest. I'm a little nervous. I know he is in good hands and he will have an absolute blast. But I won't be there. I won't be tucking him in at night. That is a huge first for me. I haven't been away from my baby overnight yet. It makes my stomach hurt. I keep saying little prayers that he will sleep well for my parents because he still wakes up during the night. And that is all my fault. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a little boy calling out "Mama" at 2 am.
But I am looking forward to going out to dinner and a movie this weekend. We are even doing some home improvements ... like painting the kitchen. The hubs is not thrilled. But I am. Maybe we will finish up the dining room too. I think I am getting ahead of myself. I blame Pinterest.
Aren't we a good looking family?
Happy Weekend, Y'all! Maybe I will be back for a weekend recap on Monday.
I've got a lot of little randomness going on in my head right now, so why not write them down?
1. The weather here (sunny, 80s, no humidity) makes me want to live outside. It is so gorgeous right now but it also reminds me that the long, hot summer months are right around the corner. Thank goodness for the swimming pool at the YMCA.
2. Zumba is my new favorite workout. It has become my happy place. Until I look in the mirror and quickly remember that I don't have moves like Jagger. But I sweat my ass off.
3. Walker has a low grade fever right now so he has been super super cuddly this morning. (I think because he is cutting major teefers right now). He wants to be all over me. Correction ... he wants to be all over my boobies. I swear it. I just had to move him a little because I was getting uncomfortable and he got mad at me, pointed at my chest and said something that sounded a lot like pillow.
4. I am ordering everything I need to do the 10 day challenge again. I've also agreed with my SIL to cut out all sweets and soda for the next 10 days.
5. My yard is looking gorgeous. The hubs and I are going to finish putting in the pavers, fresh mulch and plant marigolds by the mailbox this weekend. I am so excited! I love looking at people's yards in the Spring.
6. If you like meatloaf try making it in a muffin tin next time. I've done this the past few times I've made it and it turns out really good. And we each get to have our own individual meatloaf. I also make mine with ground turkey instead of beef.
7. We're going on a family vacation in May. To the Outer Banks. Need I say more?
8. I'm currently reading The Hunger Games. You should too. I'm going to see the movie with my sister and some of her coworkers next Friday.
9. The veggie stand reopened for the Spring/Summer on March 1st. I still haven't stopped by but I will be this weekend. I love having my kitchen full of fresh veggies and fruits. And so does Walker (see yesterday's post).
10. I'm making mint chocolate chip cookies for Andrew to take to work tomorrow for St. Patrick's Day. They will even be green. And I can't even test one out ... please refer back to number 4. boo hiss.
Oh, I have so much more on my mind right now .... crafts, Spring cleaning, pictures, ebay .... that's all for another day though!
Walker is a huge veggie lover. The kid loves grean beans, lima beans, edamame, broccoli, tomatos, avacodo .... You name it, he's tried it and more than likely has loved it. Last summer I called him my little tomato boy because he ate them every single day. And that's no exaggeration. He seriously would eat a plum tomoto (or larger) every day.
I had the fridge open yesterday getting a few things together for lunch and Walker spotted a yellow bell pepper, grabbed it, ran to the living room and started snacking right away.
I'm think this summer he may be my little bell pepper boy.
What do you think?
Happy Spring, friends!
